Hello guys, i’m new to all of this. 4 weeks ago i was diagnosed with stage 1 cancer after a mammogram. Since then I have had an operation to remove the tumour and had a sentinel node biopsy. Last week i found out it is mucinous cancer which is a good one to have.
In a couple of weeks my surgeon will be taking more of the area out to ensure I have a 5mm clearance of cancer. I don’t know how to feel as the past month has been a complete blur. I feel like i’ve run into an invisible wall and am still walking around dazed. Everything has moved so fast. Is there anyone else with this form of cancer?
Welcome to the forums, this is a very worrying time for you but you have come to the right place for support from our experienced users who I’m sure will be along to support you soon.
In the meantime maybe you would like to talk things through with a member of our helpline staff who are there to offer emotional support as well as practical information. The free phone number is 0808 800 600 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9.00 to 5.00 and Saturday 9.00 to 2.00.
Thank you so much. I will do that later today or tomorrow as I am just about to return to work this afternoon. Goodness knows how i’ll feel at the end of it as I work with challenging children today.I will also be looking for financial advice on the other threads.
I don’t visit this site these days much but just saw your thread and had to respond.
I had multi focal mucinous carcinoma which was grade 2 and an invasive ductal carcinoma which was grade 1 - I don’t do things by halves! All of it was strongly oestrogen (ER) positive, and progesteronePR and HER2 positive as well. None of the lumps were very big - from 2mm up to 9mm and I didn’t need to have chemo. I’m on Arimidex - one year down, 4 to go!
Good luck with your next op - it seems neverending doesn’t it. Take it all one step at a time.
I must gem up on the vocabulary in order to appreciate what you’ve got River. I’m oestrogen positive HER2 (i still don’t understand it all) and was put on Tamoxifen at my diagnosis. My lump was 2cm but felt like a table tennis ball outside. I have a bit of a concern regarding my operation. My breast seems to be swelling up again and it’s as if i can feel liquid in it floating around.
Hello, I was diagnosed in Dec with grade 2 mucinous carcinoma, ER +.
No spread to the lymph nodes thankfully but unclear margins after a re-excision so waiting for an mx now. My surgeon said if you had to have breast cancer it was one of the beast typpes to have!!!
I hope your nest op goes well and you get clear margins.
Take care x
I had my second operation yesterday. I felt so much better than after the first operation. Awaiting the results of this and will get them in a couple of weeks. I hope the margins are clear now.
The US site www(dot)breastcancer(dot)org has more info about this type as there are simply more of them over there, 2% of a bigger population. Some very well informed ladies posting there. Good luck.
