My Mum has stage 4 bc and also Lymphangitis.
She has just finished 6 cycles of ec chemo and has to have a ct scan on the 8th April and then back to see the onc end of April. Really worried what he is going to say.
I’m abit of a mess at the moment the onc told me that my Mum would only have about 2 yrs life expectancy and I can’t stop thinking about this. My Dad also has a tumour in his ureter and is having an op on Tuesday for this.
My Mum has been fighting bc for 23 yrs in total but it has now gone to her lung. She had a plerodesis 12 months ago but it didn’t help she still gets quite breathless. I wanted to hear from other daughters or mothers who have stage 4.

Hi Holly
My Mum also has stage 4 with secondaries to liver and bones. Her original primary was 11 years ago with a 10 year ‘remission’. The secondaries appeared late 1996 and chemo began in Feb 1997. She has had taxotere and is now on herceptin, bisophosites and xeleda. I would say this has been a real rollercoaster, one minute she looks and feels well (or as well as possible given the circumstances) the next she is very down and suffering from all the side effects such as hand and foot syndrome and a form of IBS that really effects her quality of life. She is seeing a consultant to look at her colon to rule out anything sinister there too! She is also very breathless and has to have a CT scan to make sure that her lungs are not also affected. She does not know her full prognosis and has chosen not to ask the oncologist directly. She is 57 and I am 38 with a 4 year old daughter who loves her Nanna very much.
Also my mother in law also has beast cancer grade 3 which she has had a mastectomy and lymph gland clearance and 9 months of chemo. So BC is very much in the forefront of my life.
