My Mum

Hi Ladies

My mum who is 11 years dx was taken into hospital on Friday suffering from breathing problems, we have been told today that it looks like she has cancer in her lungs although a biopsy is being done tommorow the drs are certain that it is cancer back, also mums eysight has deteriorated rapidly. I cant begin to tell you how gutted I am. I was dx myself with bc in Nov 07 and my mum has been what has kept me beleiving that everything would be ok. I cant face telling the kids we live quite a long way away so I can cover christmas I cant face them having a second christmas dominated by cancer. I should mention thatn my mum is 80 years young and has smoked liked a trouper much to my brothers annoyance - bless her. I just feel rubbish and knew this was the place to come.

Hey Karen

I’m sorry to hear about your mum. She sounds like quite a character. I can’t imagine what it must be like for you coping with this and having to keep the show on the road over Christmas. It doesn’t make any difference that she’s 80 or a likes a smoke - she’s your mum, end of.

I really hope that the biopsy shows something else which could explain her breathlessness.

Fingers crossed & thinking of you.

Thanks for taking the time to comments it means a lot, I just needed somewhere to come and write down my thoughts.

Hi Karen
How awful for you, your Mum and your family. Christmas always seems to make things worse as it adds pressure to us all and we all have a ‘happy’ view of it when unfortunately life does go on and sh*t still happens. I hope you are able to get support from you family to keep things together for your children and deal with what happens next when your Mum has her biopsy results. As Ripley says, fingers crossed. Take care and sending you and your Mum loads of positive vibes.

Update on my mum is that biopsy results are back and yes it is cancer in both lungs and throat the good news is that this is a new primary cancer and the drs have said though not curable it is treatable. They are having a meeting next week to discuss the best treatment plan.

Thanks for the good wishes and positive vibes.

Hi Karen

Just saw your thread and wanted you to know I am thinking about you and sending hugs.

I lost my own mum (not to cancer), in Feb, was dx with bc 2007 and just found out beginning of December I have mets. Just had new chemo started yesterday.

Have you managed to tell your kids yet? How old are they?

Sending love your way
