My nipple has changed shape

I have posted this for new user Anne
Jo, Facilitator

I have noticed my right nipple has become slightly inverted. I can’t find any lumps. Should I see the doc. Any advise will be welcome. Thankyou.

Hi Anne,

I would say that you should get it checked out to be sure. That was one of the signs that I noticed before I was diagnosed, also wrinking/dimpling of the breast skin. It will hopefully be nothing to worry about, but best to get it checked all the same.

Hello Anne
I, too, would urge you to get it checked, hopefully its nothing, but you need to know
I hope you get reassurance quickly
best wishes

Hi Anne,

Yes get it checked. You’ve got nothing to lose by going to your GP. If it’s nothing you’ll get reassurance. If your GP is sensible you’ll be sent to a clinic for tests just to be sure. If there is a problem the sooner it’s diagnosed the better the outcome every time.

It is true that most breast problems turn out not to be serious so don’t worry about it but don’t take any chances either.

best of luck.

Jan

Anne

Please Please go to your doctor and get this checked. What you are describing is what happened to me - no lumps or bumps or any other symptoms and I had a 4cm tumour in my breast. I am not telling you this because I want to frighten you but please go and get checked.

I really really hope that yours turns out to be nothing

Fingers crossed for you

Thank you for all your messages. I saw the doctor today and have been refered as urgent. Appointment 21st January.Doc was very concerned and my mind turned to mush when she started to ask when I first noticed it.I has kidney cancer 8 years ago and took a long time to recover. I am trying to stay positive and fingers crossed for good news.

Good luck and keep us posted on how it all goes.

Hi I really hope all is ok with you.

I had no symptoms other than a bleeding nipple and discharge and some skin dimpling. You are wise to ask on here and I also urge you to check it out.

GPs tend not to act unless they see a lump xxxx

Best of luck and please let us know the outcome

Lynn

I am seeeing the consultant tomorrow. Have private health cover so have been able to bring my appointment forward but am seeing the same doc. Feel guilty about using this but at least it will free up appointment for another lady. I have convinced myself that I have made all this up and will be wasting their time. I had a mammogram last year. Surly that would have shown something. X

Well todays the day. Feeling a little teary. Husband just given me a kiss and wished me Happy Birthday. I had forgotten! Went out for lunch with my boys yesterday. I havn’t told them yet.Am going to work for a few hours.Appointment at 3.00. Take care all.

Have been to see the consultant. Its bad news. Almost certain cancer. Have to return tomorrow for biopsy and other tests. Op within a week of results probably a week Friday or Saturday. I am numb.I can’t believe that I have got cancer again after all these years since loosing a kidney to cancer. We have just been to speak to our sons. They are so upset.I have tried to be strong and explained that I will have to just go with the treatment and wait to see what happens. Don’t have a clue where I go from here really. Am I going to loose my breast, hair, will I die. How long can I weep.I will update when I have more news.
Take care all.

Anne - so sorry to hear that was not the news we wanted… {{{hugs}}}

As you know from when you were first diagnosed with cancer before it is very scary at the start until you know what treatment you will need…

Do keep posting the support on here is amazing and we really will be here for you every step of the way…

Love Theresa x

Just wanted to say I was sorry to hear your bad news, really had my fingers crossed for you…

(((hug)))

Katie

So sorry it was bad news Anne. You will be devastated. Like Theresa says, hopefully once you have all the information and a treatment plan in place it will begin to feel a bit less daunting. Lots of us have found it helps to just focus on each stage as it comes and not look too far ahead at first.

Come back and let us know your results. I’ve had loads of support from the ladies on here over the last 9 months and I hope you will too.

Jan xx

Anne I am sorry you had this bad news and on your birthday too. I am sure your head is all over the place now I know mine was. Hope everything goes well with your planned op.

Take care

Julie

Well thats it. Confirmed as cancer and full mastectomy. Will also be having reconstruction. First they are going to look at lymph nodes and then following week in for op.I am terrified.I can’t get it out of my mind. My husband and sons are in shock. Consultant has been very informative and breast care nurse lovely. I am seeing her this week for more information regarding op but whatever they tell me I fear the worst. Must try to pick myself up and be more positive but its the imagination running away with me that blocking my mind. What ifs!!!
Thank you for your support.
