my rollercoaster of a ride thats still going!

Need to have a rant & would be good to hear from anyone who is having a similar experience?
All started at the beginning of October
1st appointment: Diagnosed with BC
2nd appointment: Was told it was low grade, 2cm, hormone receptive, would need lumpectomy, radiotherapy & tamoxifin. At the 2nd appointment they had to biopsy another suspicious area
1 week later, call on a Sunday night saying they wanted to do another biopsy of the suspicious area as they were not convinced I was nothing
1st surgery: Lumpectomy with SNB
Appoint after 1st surgery: Told the tumour had changed to grade 2 & they needed to operate again due to unclear margins & that they were also sending my tumour away for oncotype testing to see if I needed chemotherapy
2nd surgery: Re exision of margins
Appointment after 2nd surgery: Told they had still not cleared margins & I would need a mastectomy
3rd surgery: Mastectomy with immediate implant
Appointment today: Mastectomy successful, have to keep drains in & come back on friday to see if they are ready to be removed. Was also expecting oncotype test results but these are with the oncologist who is on holiday & will need to make an appointment to see him!

The stress of this journey is horrendous & like everyone I am so scared of chemo & just don’t want to have it!

Anyone on a similar journey? S xx

Sorry that you are having these problems Sonia. It is so frustrating, the weeks just seem to tick by and you seem to have had a particularly tough time with so many surgeries. At least they seem to have got it all with sufficient margins. Make the most of this time between surgery and chemo. I have had surgery, and my chemo starts in the New Year so I get Christmas with my family, and need this time to build up strength. When you see the oncologist you will get a plan and everything is better when you get a plan, and know what is going to happen to you. Chin up, it’s all doable we just need to stay positive! So saying everyone gets down sometimes- says she!

Thank you Mooney, I have just sent you a private message. S xx

I have just replied via pm Sonia but i had a strange message pop up, so not sure if you got it. ?

Hi Mooney,
Thanks for your message, unfortunately I didn’t seem to get your reply on the private messages, strange?
Hope you okay? I feel your pain & frustration with this ******* cancer business! S xx

Hi Sonia

So sorry to read that you’ve had such an awful time with surgery. I just wanted to put your mind at rest regarding chemo. They will give you plenty of time to recover ( mine was 6 weeks) and then the chemo itself is not as bad as you might think. The main side effect for me was fatigue in the first week. After that, I just carried on as normal. Yes, you will lose your hair ( probably the most emotional bit for us ladies ) ,but it will grow back . And the chemo and rads will kill off any cancer cells lurking around…it’s our medicine.

Hope you feel better soon. Look after yourself x

Thank you so much Sue for your words of encouragement. It is always good to hear from people who have been through treatment & can report that it wasn’t so bad. Where are you at now with your treatment? S x

Thank you so much Sue. I am pleased to hear that you have, nearly completed your treatment. I may well be asking you questions along the way. Sonia x
