quick question … have i read somewhere on a post here that you should paint your nails black to protect against UV ?? if this is worth trying should it be started straight away after first chemo session ?? Thanks everyone. ??

Hi there - yes - that’s what I was told - for docetaxel. I did my finger and toe nails - with Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails clear varnish as a base coat and then various dark nail varnishes on top. I changed the colour every so often just for a bit of variety - I don’t usually wear nail varnish. I finished chemo about 3 weeks ago and - so far - my finger nails seem to have survived. They are a bit ridged and have discoloured but none of them have split or fallen off. My toe nails are mostly ok - apart from my 2 big toe nails which have cracked a bit but aren’t painful…
A brilliant cream to use which was recommended to me by the chemo nurses, is udderly smooth (with urea) - it’s great for all areas of the body - especially feet and hands when on chemo. It’s difficult to get hold of in shops but you can buy it on-line. The one with urea is the best.
