Nausea

Hi folks,
I’m interested to know what anti-emetics people are on. I had my third FEC treatment on Thursday and for the second time was given Emend and domperidone but the nausea is just awful. Tried the usual alternative remedies - sea bands, ginger etc but nothing much helping. I know it will pass but when it’s keeping you awake at night it’s not much fun! Any ideas?? Can’t take Levo as it sent my bloods off. Thanks x

I ended up being given lorazapram and citiliapram (spelling could do with attention but you get my drift!) alongside emend and domperidone to try and zone me out from the sickness. I don’t think it helped though, I just got very upset and emotional and so I stopped after 1 cycle!!!

I feel for you as mine was aweful, but if you have just had your 3rd there is just 1 more to go, and if you are having T after FEC, I’m finding it SO much easier!!!

I had the second (of six) FEC last Thursday. For the first cycle, I had Ondansetron, plus Domperidone ‘if needed’ - which it was, but it helped very little. An out of hours Dr prescribed Cyclizine, but that made me very drowsy, which was not good for someone living on their own! This time I have had Ondansetron and Metaclopramide, with the Cyclizine ‘in case’. It has been better, but yesterday especially I felt rotten, finding it difficult to eat and drink because of the nasty mouth. Thankfully, I am beginning to feel better this morning. In your position, I would be straight on to the Chemo Unit for something else - sleep is so important for wellbeing and healing.

Thanks guys. I think I’ll try and get something else tomorrow as it’s really getting me down. Yeh, on to the T part for the next three which the nurses say shouldn’t be so bad! Here’s hoping! Xx

Hi Toughieone the nausea can be horrible, but the docs are usually quick to give you something if you tell them about it.

The second I mentioned my nausea was lasting more than a few days my onc arranged for me to get an injection of something, at the time of chemo. Sorry, don’t know what. I was also given Levomepromazine to take for 5 days afterwards - I’m guessing that’s the levo you can’t take? - along with Maxolon to use as and when needed.

Have a chat with your doc, there’s bound to be something that will work for you.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hugs
