Hi
Can any one reasure me that I don’t need to visit my doc yet again?
About 3 weeks ago I noticed a very small amount of blood on the tissue after passing a stool. This week, same again only more blood including a clot.
Have told myself it’s prob internal piles but don’t have any pain or itching. Not constipated, going regular. Any ideas what else it might be? Can breast cancer spread to the bowls? Will I ever get over this paranoia?
Irene
No reassurances really Irene - blood after passing a stool can be due to an anal fissure BUT… you have to find out the reason why so yes, it is best to go and talk to your GP, and hopefully he can reassure you. We can’t here because if we did it would be wrong - you need a professional on the job LOL sorry for the pun.
Dawn
Sorry no info on what it may be but if your worried go and see your GP. It probably is a small pile but it’s best to get it checked just to put your mind at rest.
I don’t feel like the paranoia will ever go but I think we’ll learn to cope with it better with time.
Good luck & best wishes

hi, i agree with dawn, it is best to get anything checked out with doc. however, i have personally never heard of bc spreading to the bowels - it seems to be liver, lungs, brain and bones - never any mention of bowel. so, i am sure it’s more likely to be piles or anal fissure (and my bc nurse also told me that chemo can inflame the bowel so that might be it) but still, if it was me, i’d get it all checked out to be on safe side. it is horrible being paranoid about every ache and pain, i am exactly the same. good luck, carrie x
Hi Irene
As your fellow forum users have advised, I agree that it’s best you go and have a chat with your G.P. even if it’s only for peace of mind.
Kind regards.

Hi irene GO TO YOUR DOCTOR, he would have seen it all before and it can be a number of things, and whatever it is you shouldnt have to put up with it,
(im not suggesting this, but to make you laugh i remember when my sister was about three she came out of the bathroom crying hysterically cos she had bled from her bottom, only for my mum to tell her about the effects of beetroot)
Seriously though its like everything else get it checked!!!

Hi Irene - I have Crohn’s, which causes bleeding from ulcers/crypt abscesses in both the small and large intestines BUT I have been assured by my gastro and bc surgeon that bc does not spread to the bowels. They are both very experienced consultants so I do trust their advice and judgement. You may have a small internal haemorrhoid, or a fissure, but only a doctor can put your mind at rest. He can do a simple examination of the rectum - don’t be embarrassed, I cope by thinking it is only another part of my anatomy and wear my best knickers!
Take care,
Liz.
I’ve had a small bleed twice after chemo, doc said fissure or something (as above) he said the chemo affects clotting etc even if your platelets are high. think you should go too, its better than worrying!! (he didnt inspect my nether regions! ) Zoe x
It sounds like a fissure which I have had in the past. easily treatable and Dr will give you some cream to apply which should heal it up
I know how frightening it is to find symptoms once we have had breast cancer. I found what felt like a new lump in my breast the other day and was hysterical thinking it had come back. Once I calmed down had tests and it was confirmed that it was scar tissue but so easy to be scared these days
Sending you positive thoughts

The same thing happened to me recently also with no pain, and i went to my GP who did examine me but couldnt find anything with his limited equipment in surgery. Ive got an apt at hospital this week to have a chat with them. Its not the most pleasant thing to be doing but I think I need peace of mind that all is okay, and I would recommend you have a chat with your doc, or else you will be worrying every time you go to the loo. Mine started after a colposcopy ( a check up of abnormal cells from smear test), which went a bit wrong when they had probs with camera disconnecting, and the bleeding lasted about 5 days. My doc gave me some pessaries which seem to have stopped it which gives me hope that it was a tear caused by the colposcopy. I’ll let you know what hospital say when ive been ! Its wierd to be hoping you’ve got piles or anal tears!

I had this and it was a thing called a perianal haematoma easily treated with cream. The worst bit was the new GP who looked about 15.I actually asked if he really needed to examine me!
I saw GP who wouldn’t examine me, he referred me to see a bowel specialist and I had a camera thing put up my bum. Basically my bleeding was caused by constipation which caused a quite painful anal fissure
I could tell it wasn’t too bad as the blood was quite red, if it comes from further up it ends up looking blackish. I think that’s more likely to be due to bowel cancer. Not that self diagnosis is a good thing. The consultant I saw said he’d undergone the same test with the camera which made me feel slightly better, not sure why!

Thankyou all for putting my mind at rest abit. I am definately not going to ignore it and am not at all embarresed, just didn’t want any more invasive treatment!
The blood was very red so Molenniums comment was interesting. I have an app at hosp next week so will mention it to them. Haven’t had any further episodes either.
Never had piles, not even after 3 babies! And not constipated so it remains a mistery for a while yet. It was just a shock to see blood.
Chemo finished 10 months ago, would it still be affecting me this far on?
Thanks again
Irene
