hi,has anyone had there implant changed who has secondarys.mine has gone hard and is quite painful somedays.will it be ok to have this done.im seeing my doctor in april about it but need to know if anyone has had it done.
I had my implants in 1995/6 and, although it is fine, I distinctly remember that I was told it would need changing after 10 years. I did mention this a couple of years ago to my onc. But he didn’t seem bothered and I still have my implants. I would be interested to know if anyone else has had implants changed because they have had them for some time.

I had my trusty saline implant changed last November (10yrs after primary DX). They decided to put in a silicone one (not sure why…) as there was some ‘encapsulation’ and they were in there doing a WLE anyway after a secondary DX to spine and sternum.
It’s so far been absolutely fine and looks pretty good as they put in a bigger one to match my other breast ('have put on a bit of weight over the last ten years!!).
If it’s causing you discomfort, they should replace it!
