Tamox:
I went through a double mast/chemo/radiation in 2008. We are a military family that does not live in the USA. The last country we lived in did not have an oncologist and currently in Italy now (Naples) the Naval Hospital does not have proper staffing for anything cancer related. I do not speak Italian and seeing someone off-site is not an option for me.
I have been taking Tamoxifen for 2 years and no one on base will refill my Rx here as they do not want to get their hands dirty. They look at me like I’m some sort of freak of nature.
Reconstruction:
I have checked into the DIEP procedure in TX. I have been told up front (San Antonio) that Tricare is not accepted as a primary insurance. Who does not take government insurance? Not having DIEP done in Europe either, no family here to care for my kids.
My husband retires in less than 2 years and if I’m going to get this done, it has to be soon. Frustrated, unsure, p*** off and open for comment.
