Hi there, Just read an interesting article in todays Daily Telegraph on the use of Herceptin along with chemotherapy in neo adjunctive therapy for Inflammatory Breast Cancer where the canver is HER +ve.
The link is here: telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/09/27/ncancer127.xml
looks good - and nice to see that IBC is being researched
Unfortunately I am an IBC girl and had herceptin along with taxotere and initially had good response.
However, in my case, once the chemo was finished the herceptin alone did not work for me and the cancer began to attack my skin.
I agree though, fantastic to read that IBC is being researched.

Hello Mabel & quisie
Yes it is good to see the profile of IBC being raised, but I too read an article today in The Sun stating the use of Herceptin with Chemo but I got quite excited as I am Dx IBC triple neg and thought just maybe this may work for all IBC’s but then it went on to say as 75% of IBC die within 5 years and it made me quite depressed as I knew the stats were against us but I didn’t think it was that high I thought it was 40-50%

I thought it was 40 - 50% too Helen, and that these stats are improving.
75% would be a huge backward step.
Take Care,
Mabel
