hello all , due to start chemo end of Oct.
Can you let me know if your surgery scars were almost healed ? would they go ahead with chemo if they were still a bit open
and did you have to push for cold cap use . I have been discouraged on the understanding they dont work but they obviously do for some people having read some of the posts.
I know i have to be positive about it all but just keep thinking of my body being pumped full of chemicals. I have deliberated about not having it but guess cannot take the risk of recurrence.
when I started chemo in May there was a small part of my scar that had not healed completely. This is because I had a couple of rogue stitches that just would not dissolve, so I had to have them removed. It was touch and go whether they would let me start my chemo on time and I didn’t know until the day. The first question the nurse on the unit asked was ‘is your wound all healed?’, I showed her and she was worried but the doc eventually said I was good to go, hurrah!!! I just had to keep an extra close eye on it but it healed up a treat,
Hi Cally
Had my op, left sided mastectomy in May.
Recovered really well from my op and started my chemo lin July
Opted for the cold cap, a little uncomfortable but if you can suffer the first ten minutes of it the feeling goes away. Havent lost my hair just a little thinness on top which I can hide with the rest of my hair. So I would recommend this to anyone. My daughter came with me for my first treatment and took a picture of me with her phone !!!
My wound has healed well but everyone has told me I had the master operating on me and even the oncologist said what a brill scar
Hope my advise helps - good luck with your treatment , keep positive and remember this treatment is part of your road to recovery.
Any questions and queries pls keep in touch

On penicillen now , just in case I get an infection , but I guess i’ll just have to let nature take its course. If on track it will have been 2mths . I will ask for the cold cap . I could be one of the lucky ones it works for
thanks all
