Hi Junieliz
I am so sorry to hear - it is the news we all dread. At least they now know the full picture and can treat you accordingly. Thinking of you. Seabird has written so beautifully above that I can only endorse what she had said. You must look after yourself now - forget those unimportant things and use your energies to keep well. Looby x
I echo the thoughts of seabird and loobytuesday. I’m so sorry you have had this news. I wish you all the very best with the next operation…let us know how it goes and we’ll all be thinking of you.
Love, Maggie x
Hi all, I am going into hospital again on Monday the 21st for Masectomy. Last Saturday I had to go to the hospital as my wound was bleeding, It was due to hematoma lots of bruising, I now have district nurse coming to change dressing. I am still quite sore and feels like shooting pains around the wound but am coping. I have my down times and am not looking forward to Monday but know I have to go, I have really wonderful support from my husband and family. Take care all of you and will keep you posted love junieliz
Hi Junieliz, at least you don’t have to wait too much longer. I’m so glad to hear you have good support at home - but bear in mind we are here for when you don’t want to bother your family with your worries. I hope your mastectomy goes smoothly and you get back home soon - but don’t rush back before you’re well enough. Hugs, Looby x
Hi looby, thank you for your kind words of support. I am worried about the surgery again on Monday, three weeks after the last one. I am still in a lot of discomfort but taking the painkillers and managing. I will let you know how I get on take care and look after yourself love junielizx
Hi Junieliz
All the best for tomorrow - look after yourself and think of an elephant - they need to be eaten slowly, one bit at a time!
Angela
junieliz,
I would be worried too - but hopefully they will be taking the painful bits away so you won’t have double pain! I am sure that they will give you plenty of pain relief - and it is important that you take the pain killers regularly - not just when you need them - they have a cumulative effect. I used to take them all wrong - I didn’t believe in taking them unless i really needed to (ie in agony!) - but then they didn’t seem to work. (This was not pain following bc surgery - but for bad back pain). I have now learnt the error of my ways!
I will be thinking of you tomorrow, it will soon be over and you will be back on the road to recovery and home soon.
Hugs, Looby x
Hi all, had Mastectomy on 21st and came home on 25th. I am in pain but taking pain relief so it is helping. Glad to be home my family are so supportive, my husband is so lovely nothing too much. Is it normal for there to be so much burning and stinging and how long will it go on for, I know it is early days yet. I went for check up on Monday everything ok, going again Wednesday don’t know what to expect perhaps results from operation. Hope it is good news, it has been a rollercoaster and I know I still have a long way to go yet. Take care all of you love junieliz
Hi Junieliz
I do not have a clue if that is normal, I am new to this but there is a lot of info on the next discussion group so have a look there. Also, maybe speak to a medic? I found the helpline here really good when I tried it last week, I do not like to make a fuss!
So glad you ar home and hope you recover well. Take care
Love
Tuesday xx
Hi Junieliz
I was told to expect tingling, numbness, odd sensations etc in my arm due to the nerves being touched/cut during surgery when i had my WLE and lymph node biopsy. Also swelling can cause odd sensations due to pressing on the nerves - think of banging your funny bone and you get odd sensations in your fingers!!
Can’t tell you how long it will go on for - maybe as long as you have swelling, or ask your BC nurse.
All the best
Angela
Hi Tuesday & Angela, thank you for your support. I went for a check up on Monday and the dressing was removed a smaller one was put on then when I was at home the wound started leaking and I had to go back for another dressing. I now think I am having a reaction from the dressing. I have an appointment today so will see what is said. I will discuss the burning etc wtth BC nurse, take care junieliz
Good, that is the best thing - take care and lots of love

Junieliz - hope your wound is ok!

I am to have chemo and radiotherapy I think, I have to go next Wednesday to check on my wound and to learn a bit more about the chemo. Will let you know how I go on take care love junieliz
