Hi just writing from hospital had 1st chemo n got sore throat felt I’ll n temp. Bloods 0.1 stays in a couple of days. Had 2nd chemo. Thurs. Had neulasta injection on fri Tues started coughin n feelin rough then yestoday just felt breathless n worn out. Got temp last nite. So rang n told t cum in. Just found out bloods 0.2. Neutropenic agIn. Anyone else. Found this? N I hope I don’t ha v this everytime. Fed uppppppppp!!! Rozita xxxx

Sorry you’ve got problems again. I was neutropenic twice during chemo and it is a scary thing at the time isn’t it? I found that once I was let out of solitary, I’d had that many anti biotics etc pumped into me for days that I felt better than I had in weeks. )0.2 is very low as you know so you need to be in and hopefully out feeling fitter. I was told there is no way of knowing and nothing I could do to prevent it, it’s just how your body reacts at the time - I wasn’t really fit enough during chemo to do much research on the subject but others may nave more info.

I am Neutropenic again for the second time after receiving the neulasta injection.
I’ve got my third chemo next Friday (19th March) and the neulasta the following day. I may refuse it as it doesn’t seem to work and sent my heart racing and thumping to 77 bpm when I am normally 54/55/56 bpm - frightening stuff.
The GP told me not to go to work.
Did you know that the neulasta injection is £650 but then we’ve all paid for it, but if I had to buy it myself I’d want my money back.
Manuka Honey is meant to be good (it was recommended on this site) at increasing the White Blood Cells and I checked with my GP yesterday and he agreed. You get get it in Sainsbury’s and Tesco at about £10 a jar. I’m having a teaspoon half and hour before dinner along with my Penicillin.

Strange again how practices vary at different units … my neuts dropped to 0.5 after my first chemo, so I had x 3 neulasta injs over the next 3 days. The following chemo they dropped again to 0.5, so they then increased it to x 5 doses over the next five days and Ive been on that regieme for the next 4 chemos. My bloods havent dropped below 2.4 since having the 5 (and have been as high as 9!)…maybe you could ask to have more than 1 injection after your next chemo to prevent you becoming so badly neutropenic?? worth asking! The cchemo nurses said the most they give is 7 doses, so it must be safe to have so many …although mnc, i know exactly what you mean about a racing and bounding heart, it isnt very pleasant at all, is it??

Hi still in hospital. Temp went up t 38 again last nite so still on antibiotics. N had White cell inject yestoday which works quick last time. Just told me still. 0.3. So can’t go home anyway. Talkin about maybe havin t lower my chemo dose as 2 dangerous every time. Great. God I need sum wine nice food n pampering. Rozita xxxxx
Bummer rozita - thinking of you and sincerely hope this can be sorted for you once and for all. I read your posts often, you’re a few weeks further down the line, i’ve just had firts chemo 4 days ago. You always seem very resilient - stay strong.

I had this with chemo four and five so they cancelled number 6 as they said there was no point hospitalising me everytime.
It sucks being stuck in isolation and i was eventually discharged with bloods of 0.4 as my temp had gone and they needed my bed!

Poor you Rozita, i has this after chemo 2, it is rubbish i know.

I know how yo feel i had 1st chemo docataxol 3wks ago and ended up in hosp with bloods 0.1 and a raging infection, i was on 3 different antibiotics and isolated, my problem was i didn’t really know the best time to go to hosp so ended up in a dangerous situation and was givin a little telling off by the docs.
I have since had my 2nd on tues but a reduced dose as i am on a trial and that is what is required if you become neutroseptic, but i am a bit worried it will happen again.
I hope you start to feel a lot better soon, we are between the devil and the deep blue sea arn’t we.

hi, came home saturday full of antibiotics nwhite cell injections so hopefully supercharged now. they were great in hospital but shortage of beds meant even tho i was neutropenic i was on a ward with others no isolation like ur supposed to. the chemo ward has special filters in it positive n negative supposedly to get rid of bugs but an old lady next to me was coughin n blowin her nose all nite great. felt like a celebrity GET ME OUT OF HERE!!! went ou yestoday 4 lunch n retail therapy so will make the most of the days left till next one when will see what onc decides to do. think i should book my bed in advance next time … rozita xxxxx
