New area on ultrasound - need biopsy

Firstly , just wanted to say hi as I’m new to this forum .
I have a history of fibroadenomas , already had 3 biopsied in the last 10 years . I’m 44 and have annual mammograms and ultrasounds due to my mum having BC at 54 . At my latest one yesterday the doctor found a new area / lump that wasn’t there last year and I have to have a biopsy next week . Totally freaking out , I’m guessing many of you know that feeling unfortunately ? Praying that it’s another benign lump , it’s only been there a year which on the one hand is reassuring as it must be early , but also worrying as the doctor said it was “sizeable” . Does anyone know how fast tumours grow ? Thanks for reading this

Hello and welcome to the forum.  Yep this is a scary place at the moment because you do not know what you are dealing with and hopefully it will be a fibroadenoma.  I do not know much about them in terms of how big they can be so can not help on that one, sorry.

However, if it does turn out to be something else, it does not necessarily mean that it is cancerous but IF it does turn out to be the really good thing is that you are already having yearly mammos so it has been picked up early and can be treated

Let us know how you get on if you want to.  We are all here to help and support you so just come on here whenever you want and there will always be someone here to talk to, you are not alone.

Sending you hugs

Thanks ! The waiting is just so hard , this anxiety is bad enough I can’t imagine what it would be like if it is cancer ?
