Hi,
I have just had a breast reduction 2.5 weeks ago & the hospital has found intermediate grade dcis is the tissues I had removed. They don’t know if they’ve got it all or what margins because it was removed unknowingly.
I have to wait 4 weeks for a mammogram then depending on results they will decide a treatment plan.
I am 37 with 2 small children. It’s all been a shock.
Just thought i’d introduce myself.

Hi JHS,
sorry that you have had to join this club, but i have found a fantastic group of women, who i have been able toe more honest with tan probably my own family.
Like you I am 37, I was diagnosed in Jan of this year with Grade 2 Invasive Lobular Carcinoma and DCIS. I have just completed chemo and meet with my breast surgeon tomorrow and decision re surgery will be made.
My childrene are 5 and 2 and whilst it has been difficult they have been my inspiration to get up in the morning and fight this horrible disease. How young are your children. With my 5 year old my partner and I did go along with telling him the truth as he does tend to get anxious , we used language that he would understand, ie superheroes and used the publication “Mummy’s lump” which you can order from this website. We sat down with him looked at the pictures and explained that for a while i would have no hair and may be sad and poorly, it really helped him. I also informed his school so that they could look for changes in behaviour and with regards to people picking Alex up i extended that list.
I would say accept help as well, for me my parents would take the boys on the weekend after chemo and i would not worry too much about that as for them it was a treat.
after you learn what the plan is regard treatment you will know a lot more , please message me if you need any further questions answered and use these forums. We laugh, cry raant and rave here so you are more than welcome#

Hi louise,
Thanks for your message. My children are almost 5 & 2.5. I have ordered the leaflet you suggested. My friend works at my eldest’s school & so she is going to speak to the teacher for me regarding my diagnosis & any affect it may have on my eldest at school.
I hope you get on ok tomorrow & will look out for you posting your news.
