Hi, I’ve been in Germany for years and had full breast cancer treatment there from 2008. My doctors there told me I should have a mammogram once a year (I’m 66), but that in the UK 3 years is the standard. I could actually use private insurance, although I would finish up paying myself possibly. The GP booked me an appointment at the local NHS breast centre. I was told it would not be for several weeks. I have now got a letter giving me an appointment two days ago and requesting me not to miss it. No phone number. It was to go out by first-class post - it didn’t - and to include a registration form for new patients - it didn’t. Obviously I have asked the GP to start the procedure again. But the incompetence has made me start thinking again about the frequency of mammograms. My cancer was only visible on the mammogram, not by ultrasound or touch. I am not particularly worried, but what if I get a new primary? Should I perhaps go straight to the private route?
I posted this query in 2014 and got replies. Where are the replies now? Have they been removed? I am not looking for answers in 2016, thank you.
