Hi @gillian0808,
Thanks for your post.
It’s good to hear that you have spoken to your GP about the lump you have noticed on the base of your neck. As they have referred you for an urgent ultrasound, it’s reasonable to ask your GP surgery what timeframe they expect for this urgent referral and who to contact if you have not heard anything. If you know which ultrasound department you’ve been referred to, you could also contact them directly to ask when you are likely to be seen.
If you haven’t already, it’s important to contact your breast care nurse or treatment team. They can assess and advise on whether any further assessment or tests are needed alongside the ultrasound that has already been arranged. It can be helpful to discuss your follow up so that you are aware of who to contact if you do notice new or persistent changes.
It’s understandable that you’re finding it hard not to spiral, any new symptoms after breast cancer treatment can cause some uncertainty and worry. Do let your breast care nurse know how you’re feeling so they can support you. We also offer a range of free supportive services which you may be interested in. They include face to face and online courses and events.
