New lump and arm numbness

I found a hard pea sized painless lump on the side of my right breast and after a month of it not going away I went to GP who has referred me to breast clinic. I go in a week for the investigation however I now have some arm pain and numbness on that side. The arm feels heavy and achey and unlike the other normal side. I also had some jaw and collarbone and shoulder pain prior to this all on this side. Could this be linked?

Hi @alicealive

Welcome to the forum. Well done for going the GP and getting your lump checked and your subsequent referral to the breast clinic.

All I can say is this time, awaiting your appointment, tests and waiting results is the hardest time. Most lumps are non cancerous but when we find a lump or something else we always think the worst. It’s totally normal.

As far as the arm pain and numbness, I can’t say what that may be. It could be something totally different such as you’ve slept in a certain way and it’s caused this. Stress of this situation can cause muscle aches and pains. Maybe some others will comment but I would suggest talking to a medical professional.

The BCN nurses are available on Monday 9-4 0808 800 6000

I hope your lump is nothing to worry about but if it is the forum will be here for you.

Hi alicealive

Thanks for posting about the pain you are experiencing in your arm, collarbone and shoulder since being referred to the breast clinic.

It’s not possible for us to say if your symptoms are linked to the breast lump you have noticed, it’s understandable that you may worry about other symptoms and wonder if they’re linked when you have been referred for further assessment.

As @naughty_boob says most people referred to a breast clinic will not have breast cancer. However, do report the symptoms you’ve been experiencing when you attend your appointment so they can be fully assessed.
