Has anyone had any new lumps whilst having chemo??
In my mind its impossible for any cancer to grow whilst having chemo.
I have always had lumpy boobs and have always said I’d never know the difference between a good lump and a bad one- they feel the same.
I’m 3/4 through my chemo and where my lymph nodes have been removed (1 affected) the underarm has been feeling very heavy for last 3 weeks and I can feel a lump where nodes have been removed.
Seen my BC nurse today who confirms that there is a lump there (plus another very small one no where near the op site) and says its to do with the healing process and operation. she has booked me in for next wednesday to have them both scanned so they have a base line for changes in the future. I am happy with explanation and feel very positive but now that I’m home I’m thinking am I being nieve (spelling??) - should I be worried???
Nurse was brill as i told her i regularly had lumps before and they’d come and go and I’d be living over the hoispital having them checked out if I was worried about them all - she said that if lumps continued she’d be happy to check them monthly - i thought that was good.
I’m feeling at the moment that I would be better off with no boobs
Hi I am really pleased that you are being checked, I had a new primary that became obvious within two months of me finishing E-CMF it was a new primary not a reoccurance. and a higher grade first one was a grade 2 the second a grade 3…I was very uncomfrtable under my arm where the scar was and I had the spongy feeling that I had directly after the node removal, so kept checking, and also when i found my lump was 15th Dec, I went to the hospital in January just after New Year and from finding it to having the mast on 20th Feb, it started as a grain of rice to the size of a large grape…and it was very sore, esp when I put my arm down to my side.

Kelyn, I am on the same treatment as you epi/cmf just started cmf. Yesterday I had a lump checked out with ultrasound
showed up as fluid. hope yours ok best wishes Jeanxx
Yes it is possible for cancerous lumps to grow while having chemo…but it is more likely that there is an innocent explanation as your breast care nurse says. You are getting the right tretament in having them scanned…waiting for results is always anxiety making so fingers crossed for an innocent explanation.
best wishes
Jane
Just come back from getting lump scanned- everything looking good.
he was expecting it to be fluid but when he checked it he ‘believes’ that as the scar is over the muscle when I’m excercicing I’m agrivating the area. he declared everything to be looking good and as I have a 6 mth appointment in Septemeber he’s going to review it again then.
