I was told yesterday that I have breast cancer. Totally blew my mind. Think I still haven’t taken it in. Got app with surgeon on 4th Aug to discuss whether I’m opting for a full or partial mastectomy. What happens to my other breast? I’m worried I’m going to have one super pert new breast and a sagging 50 year old D cup breast. Anyone else have big Boobs and do they look odd having and old and a new one? ![]()
Hi
Welcome to our forum.
I’m so sorry that you have found yourself here. It’s a terrible time when first getting the results.
Your consultant will talk through your options at the next meeting.
Try joining the threads on Going Through Treatment, where you will get support and advice from the lovely ladies on here.
Please ask if you have any other questions.
Sending a hug xx
Hi Ablondemoment,
Sorry you find yourself here, but glad you’ve found us.
There is loads of support here from those of us where you are now, as well as those of us further down the line & out the other side.
The early days of diagnosis are a shock, but it does get better when your treatment plan is in place.
Do go to the ‘Recently diagnosed’ board which is busier than this thread & where, you will be able to chat & get support form the other lovely ladies there & as Sue says, the ‘going through treatment’ board when you start treatment.

Thank you Sue x x
Hi Ablondemoment,
I had my official (biopsy) results on Thursday, although the radiologist had already warned me it was cancer. The days between the biopsy being taken and the actual meeting I went through so many things in my head, but the biggest question I had for the Doctor (I’m a bit confused as to who’s who) was Am I going to be lopsided? haha And then he said they would reconstruct if necessary, not to worry. So then I said incredulously that I wouldn’t want reconstruction, I would want DECONSTRUCTION of the other breast!!! I’m a G cup, btw. Anyway, I believe it depends on which NHS trust you are with as to how much funding they have, so ask your BCN (Breast cancer Nurse). I phoned mine on Friday with a question, and the phone was answered immediately and it was a direct line, which was very comforting. My operation is on the 9th and my pre op is on the second. We’re in this together.
Cathy
