new to forum---but I would like to say thanks1

I was diagnosed wiwth hormone receptive BC and bone mets to hip March 07. As you can imagine I was totally traumatised, especially in relation to the way I was diagnosed. It has only been since Feb 08 that I have enough courage to access this site. I have been reading the discussion forums but not taking part until now. Can I just say that I have found the practical and real advice offered to be invaluable. I only wish I had had…the courage to access the site sooner. To everyone out there please keep up the good and invaluable support you give.

Many ,many thanks

H

Hello H,
A warm welcome to the site, and thank you for your kind comments.
I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I was diagnosed last March with ER+ and HER2+ bc and liver mets, so about the same time as you. I’m the sort of person who immerses myself in information to help me feel I have a little bit of control over things, so I’ve been using the forums for quite a while. I was the same with childbirth - read every book i could lay my hands on!
I had chemo last year (Taxol) and now on Herceptin and Tamoxifen. I’ve just had a scan and glad to say this regime is keeping it under control so far, so I can keep going on these until they stop working. I work part time and have 3 children.
What treatment have you had? And how are you doing physically now? What family have you?
One day you must tell us the tale of your diagnosis, but only when you’re ready.
I am so glad you’ve found the forums helpful. I have found it a huge support and even been to a couple of meet-ups with people from here. My friends and family find it hard to understand the connection I have with the ladies on here, but nobody can understand what it is really like unless they have been there.
Wishing you all the best,
Jacquie x

Hi ot2walk

I am glad you have found the forums invaluable, I wondered if you knew of some of Breast Cancer Care’s other secondary support services. There is a secondary breast cancer Telephone support group, the aim of the group is to give you the opportunity to talk privately and confidentially to other people around the UK with similar experiences. Discussions cover issues such as relationships, work, money, living with uncertainty, treatment, as well as everyday life, for more information telephone 0808 800 6000 or email <script type=“text/javascript”>eval(unescape(‘%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%74%65%6c%65%70%68%6f%6e%65%73%75%70%70%6f%72%74%67%72%6f%75%70%73%40%62%72%65%61%73%74%63%61%6e%63%65%72%63%61%72%65%2e%6f%72%67%2e%75%2e%6b%22%3e%74%65%6c%65%70%68%6f%6e%65%73%75%70%70%6f%72%74%67%72%6f%75%70%73%40%62%72%65%61%73%74%63%61%6e%63%65%72%63%61%72%65%2e%6f%72%67%2e%75%2e%6b%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b’))</script>.
We also have a secondary live chat session on a Tuesday evening from 8.30 - 9.30 pm, this is facilitated by an expert moderator and a nurse who are on hand to point you to sources of help and information. But for most people, the chance to talk to others in a similar situation is what counts, simply use the same login details for both the live chat and the forums. For more information see the link breastcancercare.org.uk/content.php?page_id=6218

Kind regards
Katie

Welcome H, to the club that noone wants to belong to!

I know what you mean, it is quite daunting posting here for the first time (I remember it well…) but we are a good old bunch, as I hope you will find.
