Underwent mastectomy in December 2008 did not need chemo but
have been taking arimidex for four months - just felt a need
to see how everyone else is coping with this and was advised to
join the forum by the breast cancer care nurse I spoke to.

Hi Rosco, Just want to say hello, you will get so much support and advice here from such kind caring people. How are you coping with the arimidex? I had arimidex for 12 months and have just changed to tamoxifen because of the side effects. Helenx
Hi Hezb
You have switched from Arimidex to Tamoxifen: I have done the reverse. I had about 16 months on Tamoxifen then was switched to Arimidex (because at 53 and with my last period in January 2007 - prior to diagnosis - they considered I was postmenopausal)
You mentioned that you switched because of the side effects; my side effects on Tamoxifen were (chiefly) nausea and joint pains. The side effects on Arimidex are increased joint pains and slightly less nausea.

Hi Hezb
So far I do not appear to have the same degree of side effects
my joints are not sore and do not ache - but I have had a type
of ulcer in my mouth which has been uncomfortable. Thank you
for making me feel welcome -
Love Rossco
Hi rossco and bubs, hope your both ok today we have sunshine at last.
bubs have been on tamoxifen and was changed to arimidex like you but really dont know why i have been changed back was also on zoledex dont think i ask enough questions at my appointments but do think they have changed me back to tamoxifen because i had a bone density scan which came back as thinning in my bones.
Rossco i also have suffered with a sore mouth but do have a condition called lichen planus which makes my mouth sore anyway but i must say it has worsened since i started treatment so now you have said that i am thinking that could be the reason. Any questions please ask i am only too happy to help, I was first diagnosed in sept 2006 so may be abit further on than you just to say your not alone!! Love HelenXX
