Hello Christelle 39, sorry you’ve had to join our club but you’ ll find we are a friendly and supportive bunch. Re your operation, I had my lumpectomy and sentinal node biopsy done over 14 months ago. I had the radioactive isotope injected at one hospital then went straight to the one where they were going to do my op as a day surgery case. I arrived about 11am, had my op about 3.30 pm and my husband picked me up about 7pm. I didn’t have any drains and only needed painkillers for that night and the following morning. It all went very smoothly and I’ve really had no problems to speak of since, even after 15 sessions of radiotherapy. Hope this has helped allay some of your fears, best wishes for your op and recovery, take care Pat x

Hi Christelle

Sorry to hear you are joining us on our journey

I was diagnosed 4th Feb and had a similar op to you on 4th March - I was very scared about it but it all went well and wasn’t as bad as I feared.  I think the waiting was the worst bit.

I had a WLE and sentinel node biopsy.  I went in at 7am and went home at 10pm at night, I was the last on the consultants list, just my luck lol, but some of the morning ones went home in the afternoon.

There is a thread about the operation  which goes into a bit more detail and might be of help to you.  It is good to know what to expect.

Good wishes

Jaye x
