I was recalled for a routine mammogram at age 53 and on the 9th Oct was told I had IDC ER8/2 HER2 Negative at the time the primary tumour was PT2, I had my lumpectomy on the 23rd Oct. and it was a 21mm Grade 1 IDC with lymphovascular invasion, 1 out of 2 nodes (pN1a (sn) removed shows as a macrometastsis. At present they have recommended Three weeks of radiotherapy to the breast and most likely the Axilla with endocrine therapy for 7 years and Ribociclib for 3 years. I have just had a Nuclear Bone Scan and a CT scan with contrast as a precaution which they said is the standard procedure at the Rd&E, They have said most likely we will find no evidence of further spread of the cancer and my long term outlook in that case will be very good with the suggested treatment. I am spiralling a little with the constant change of results and treatment and just wondered if anyone has been through similar to me and how they coped with the waiting and the constant unknown. Thank you
Changes along the way are so difficult and further “surprises” can send us into a spin. I was diagnosed with Grade 2 IDC last year and when pathology came back I also had a couple of little Grade 1s and some DCIS for good measure. I think the most important thing is if you are confused or worried by any of your results to keep pushing for answers to your questions. The not knowing or feeling uncertain is always worse, in my opinion, than facts.
I noticed you are being treated at RD&E, have you visited the Force centre there? This is a brilliant support service with lovely people who will talk through any worries you have. x
