Hi all
I have just recently been diagnosed with invasive lobular cancer. I have a 8cm tumar, cancer cells found in lymph nods under arm too! I start chemo in a week, then I have to hav surgery and then radiotherapy.
The worst thing about this is that iam currently on maternity leave, my son is 4 months old! Luckily he won’t understand but really don’t know how I will cope with this, I don’t want to miss him doing things or taking him to his classes but I could b to ill to do so? Is anyone else in similar predicament, how have you been?
Best wishes to you all xxxx

Hi tweedypie, I was diagnosed with lobular cancer too 5cm in January, had micromets in my nodes so classed as node negative. My daughter is 14 so managed to help when I needed it as I unfortunately didn’t get much support from other family members. Chemo for me was the hardest but as many will agree on here doable…have you got family close that could help with your son on the days when you need to rest? Not everyone gets all of the side effects hopefully you will be one of them…if you have any questions I am pleased to help …honestly once you start treatment you will feel more in control…hugs and best wishes ,WAX xxxx
Hi Tweedy, welcome to the forum but so sorry you find yourself here. I was diagnosed in January 2012, I had 2 operations, chemo, radio and now take Tamoxifen. My daughter was 4 when I was diagnosed so much more Independant than your son but I found chemo doable. I continued to work fulltime right up until my last chemo, and I only went off sick then because my BCN was nagging me too! I carried on as normal in most respects. Dont get me wrong, it wasn’t pleasant and I know I was lucky but not everyone suffers extensively whilst undergoing chemo. I worked, looked after the house, took my daughter on days out, but rested when I needed to was and was careful during my low count days not to mingle too much with crowds. I only had my husband to help, no one else, and he was at work for 5 days so you can do it. Lean on people if you can, take what help is offered and if you need more contact your local sure start centre, also there is a Facebook group for younger women - The Younger Breast Cancer Network (UK), if you like the page and then send them a PM they’ll add you to the secret group, you’ll find many ladies in your position. Please feel free to PM me if you want, happy to help. Wishing you the very best of luck, and as Wax said, you will feel better once you have your treatment plan in place. Take care , CC x
