Hello have posted before but cant find my posts! New to forums. Had my mastectomy on 15th came home with one drain on 16th, had axcilla clearance as well. Just like to say …I know everyone is different and I was terrified of the impending surgery,just wanted you to know it wasnt as bad as I was expecting! So anyone out there who is at the awful stage of waiting take heart it may not be as awful as you imagine. Just taking every day as it comes awaiting results thats the next hurdle…

Thanks for that, having my mastectomy on Tuesday 20 with full clearance, dreading it, But very bad pain in left breast so ultimatly glad to be “getting on with it”

Good to hear hospice13, and taking each day as it comes, each stage is the way through.
Gooseberry girl, thinking about you this week, it really wasn’t as bad as I expected either, and it is a great feeling to know the evil lump has gone.

I/ve just read your post which has helped me a lot. I am having mastectomy 13th oct and am petrified but if it is not as bad as you expected then I take heart from this.

H everyone,

I had my mx on the 19th July and start chemo on 30th sept. I too think ithe mx is not nearly as bad as you think it’s going to be, both mentally and physically.

The lack of mobility and soreness afterwards gets better very quickly and there’s lots of help and support on this site. I’ve never posted on a forum before and find this one enormously helpful and comforting.

Good luck with the chemo on the 30th impatients , I shall hear on Fri my dates etc. Hopefully I shall breeze through the treatments! the op wasnt as awful as expected so lets hope chemo is the same…
I do hadnt used a forum before but have found this site very good. Keep up informed re your chemo and progress. Take care xx
