Newbie starting TAC chemo

Good luck for Friday Daisy, hope things are continuing to go well for you. My next one is Monday hopefully, subject to bloods tomorrow and seeing doc on Friday: first of 8 under new regime, 4 Epi and 4 CMF. Had an extra week’s recovery in between due to Easter, but will at least miss the May bank holidays now, so things should get moving again.
Hair is stubbornly trying to grow back in patches, mustn’t all have been quite ready, so am still shaving head! Hopefully the next chemo will finish it off and I won’t have to bother with it any more.
Hope everyone is getting along okay
All the best

Hi Karen - still ok at my end! No nasties to report. Hubby chopped my hair off on Sunday and my Son gave me a very bad No2. I couldn’t go from chin length to bugger all in one swoop! I have been out in my wig and headscarf without too much fuss.

Good luck on Monday, I really hope this cocktail is kinder to you. I have blood test tomorrow and no2 on Friday, can’t wait to get another one over with. I have everything crossed that it goes as good as the first one did.

I will post again once I have been poisoned!

Take care and best wishes… Daisy xxxxxxxxxx

Hi…haven’t posted for a while, so catching up with everyone! I am on TAC, have had 4 so far and have to admit that while it hasn’t been as bad as I thought, it HAS been a bit worse each time, insofar as getting over it has been. I get aches and pains, and diarrhoea (no constipation!) which I can cope with, tiredness too, and the worst thing for me personally, I guess is the awful taste in my mouth, which lastes pretty much all the way between treatments, but does get slightly better as time goes on.When I am through all this, I am booking myself in for a wonderful meal out and hope to savour every single mouthful!
Haven’t had any cystitis, but have had a day or so of slight vaginal bleeding, which was a slight worry, and I will ask my oncologist about this when I see her next week, as I had some bleeding when I started on Arimidex ( which I had to stop when the chemo sessions started) and she really quizzed me about that as I haven’t had periods, etc for about 10 years now.
Hair is trying to grow back, I have some slight fuzz,( on my head only!! LOL) so I hope things will rapidly improve once I have had the last two TAC sessions…fingers crossed, anyway!

Hi Narnia - TAC for me too. Number 2 over and done with last Friday. Am fed up belching and burping like a lager lout, any tips? Constipation was an issue with no1, so have taken steps to avoid that, so far, so good.

Someone has wrapped my tongue in clingfilm too! Just had some custard which actually tasted ok.

I have been tired with this one, but the aches (so far) have been kinder than the first time round.

I shaved all of my hair off on Sunday as the tufts were annoying me and now I am left with a very sore head, so am smothering my head in thick gooey Nivea - again, any tips?

Off now to top up my hot water bottle and munch on yet another sherbert lemon. Hope you are well, and good luck Karen.

Hi all, glad you are still going along fairly ok after round 2 Daisy! I had first Epi on Monday with no problems, starting to feel a bit washed out today, but after A and C last time (but no T) I have a better idea of what to expect, so am taking things easier.
Just still a bit peeved that this was part one of 8, so it will be October before my last one if all goes according to plan, to be followed by 5 weeks of radiotherapy: I am resigned to taking a gap year! Oh well, whatever it takes to get rid of the b****r eh?
Best wishes to everyone

Hi Karen, so glad to hear this cocktail was more to your body’s liking! I am still doing great, the aches in my bones have eased up, thanks to the weather and my last jab being yesterday!

My taste is returning which is good and the indigestion is easing up.

I know it’s a pain having the finishing line moved, but like you said, write this year off and start again! It’s my 40th in August and I had planned all sorts, but now I will be having my breast zapped in Colchester hospital instead! It just means I will be 40 next year as well! If the Queen can have 2 birthdays, so can I!

Keep well and look after yourself.
