Yep. Get whatever medications they’ll give you. For me it was xanax. Didn’t use them all the time but when I needed a little something to take the edge off it was invaluable.

Sorry hear about your diagnosis. I hear you! I got some Diazepam from my GP to help with the early hospital visits - it did take the edge of my complete panic. I’m now on a mild anti-anxiety pill for the next few months. I didn’t want to take it but the nurses advised do what you need to do to get you over this stage. Best of luck. You’ve got a strong team of support here so lean in when you need to. x

Welcome to the forum @jazjoste . Sounds very familiar, I had horrible anxiety and palpitations to the point where I had an ECG at the GP . I was prescribed Valium which I did take when things got overwhelming . It will get better I promise you , this period of intense anxiety is normal and does not last long . Once you are getting on with treatment to rid yourself of the horrible invader you will feel better. Best wishes Jill

Was prescribed diazepam for the early diagnosis days.
Was also given mirtazapine (low dose) anti anxiety and for sleeping.
Had double mastectomy end of July and despite all the panic and worry, I slept like a baby throughout thanks to the mirtazapine and having a good sleep makes everything easier.
I still take them and I really don’t want to stop.

Hi my anxiety is through the roof and I’m literally shaking. I take mirtazapine and also propanolol when needed which is twice a day. It does take the edge off. I really feel for you as it’s so hard to face on top of a bc diagnosis x
