I’m a new girl and would love a bit of reassurance. have high grade DCIS and am having mastectomy and immediate reconstruction and reduction to the other breast - can’t believe Im going to be a c cup after lugging round F for years! So there is a silver lining! Am going for Sentinel node biopsy tomorrow- removing four nodes and have a general anaesthetic so over night stay …does it hurt and please tell the truth! When get results - hopefully good - will have my biggie op - would love any advice-sending good vibes to you all - love Chebsy
Hi Chebsy
Not sure if I read your post correct are you having just the snb tomorrow? I had wle and snb then went on to have mast. The op isnt too painful but you really do need to do the excercises. When I was in hosp they offered me paracetamol - not got a headache I thought - these did do the trick though once home I used Ibruprophen which worked alot better.
Hope that helps
Karen
Hi Karen- thanks for getting back- yes - just snb tomorrow and have to wait a week for results before next step - can’t quite understand why have to have general anaesthetic and overnight hospital stay when it seems quite minor? Did you have reconstruction?
cheers Cheryl
Hi Cheryl
Everywhere seems to be different I had my snb and wle at the same time. I havent had recon yet as Im still having chemo another 2 to go then rads. Once I have finished rads I will think about recon def want it but need to get myself up and running agian before I think about more ops. I think if I could have had immediate recon I would have felt differently.
Hugs

Hi cheryl
I had WLE & SNB in 2 diff ops!! Each time it was day surgery - glad i didn’t have to stay overnight - but def need to keep up the exercises for the arm. Now as the DCIS is still there no clear margins am booked in for MAsectomy on 23rd. Follwed by chemo & rads.
I too have to think about recon - want to keep the option open but need to get through the treatments first and as Karen says be fit and up & about before more ops.
Would say that Arnica & Aloe Vera - have been wonderful in reduceing bruising & healing of scar tissue.
Can’t say as I’n lookinf forward to having to stay overnight (3/4 days) afte the Masectomy - but there it is grin & Bear it. Glos. Hospital have been so good friendly & clean.
Best of luck with the op.

Hi Leesha - good luck with 23rd - will send good vibes!! Had snb and get results on tues and then am booked for mastectomy, reconstruction and reduction - if anything found in results of snb then n need radiotherapy then reconstruction will happen at a later date. But …enough of me …keep us posted as to how it all goes- Cheryl x

leesha
Hi Leesha - results yeterday all clear so can go ahead with mastectomy and immediate recon as planned…and reduction -on 31st May …eek…BUT … c cup bliss!! Sounds like you had fun - I did too- lovely wee hospital - really friendly staff and jolly clean-so won’t mind going back too much…anyway keep me posted - thinking of you and sending good vibes ! x
Wondering how you are doing Karen - still at the old exercises - love and hugs x
recon to c cup sounds good - def decided flat chested look not so much of an advantage as first thought (i’ve always been DD) theres nowhere to catch the crumbs now - all ends up in my belly button. Not having recon till after chemo & rads - so sometime next year I expect. Tried the new look Softie out today - my brother didn’t even notice (howz that!!) then took look in a window later on whilst shopping realised slightly wonky look might take some time for me to perfect the look. At least I can laugh about it and I really am not self conscious at all. So thinking of you on 31st it will be worth the wait.

Hi Ladies
I had LCIS in left and DCIS in right and i am 7 days post op following bilateral mast and LD recon. Home with 2 drains still insitu, feeling a bit bruised and battered but out the other end. I can now look forward to the future with confidence.
It is painful, you will wonder at about day 2 post op OMG what have I done! but it gets easier and you see some improvements daily I had recon to a cup smaller but at the moment there is so much swelling i have a monoboob so its difficult to tell what the result will be like. Good luck all of you with your treatments.
