newly diagnosed south Lanarkshire

I was diagnosed 3wks ago with invasive breast cancer. Its highly hormone receptive so thats something as hormone inhibitors will hopefully work well. I have my surgery to remove the lump and do sentinal lymph node biopsy on Thurs 27th of Feb.  I have a strong family history of breast cancer and lost my sister to the disease 18yrs ago. Im ok and staying strong but it’s hard with the memory of my sister whispering in my ear. It’s when I think of the implications for my 2 daughters and 5 granddaughter’s Im struggling with. ( Im 56 with 8 grandchildren ). My Mum tested negative for brca1 but testing for brca2 couldnt be done as Mum had dementia so coudnt give consent.  I am to have a double mastectomy with reconstruction in about 6 months time after treatments  ( rads and chemo ) are finished.

Hello,  I was diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer at the end of jan this year.  I had found a lump just before xmas.  It is also oestrogen receptor and Her2 positive.  I am going in for further surgery on wed 26th feb and have been told masectomy maybe a possibility in the end!  Depending on the results of this surgery ive been told il be on 6months of chemo, with herceptin for 1yr followed by radiotherapy, then hormone therapy for a number of years.  I know what you mean about worrying for sisters and daughters.  My breast care nurse said that will all be discussed at some point too.  I am 28 and have an 18month old little girl,2 sisters and 2 nieces and my mum.  At least they can look into things further these days and do things about it.
