Hi, I was searching google for a ‘comfy bra’ for after my op and I came across this Forum. It’s so comforting to read this help, advise and recommendations and to know i’m not on my own. I’m very anxious (blood pressure sky high) and feel tired all the time - I was wondering if this is this normal? or maybe related to shock ! Thank you for reading this x
Hi gilly, sorry to hear about your diagnosis, i’ve was recently diagnosed too with invasive ductal and dcis, had my lumpectomy and slnb a week ago today, i worked up until my surgery but found the tiredness overwhelming, the stress of waiting for things to happen play a big part even tho i’ve been fairly positive about it all, i now have another week to wait for my surgery results before i can be referred for my chemo to start, not slept well at all these last few nights which doesn’t help, hope you find a really comfy bra, i’ve tried quite a few and i’ve just resorted to going bra less, i’m small chested anyway but i found everyone so uncormfortable with the swelling and the weird sensations, you may lose some feeling for a while in your armpit and around your back but the relief of having the lump removed is worth it xx
Hi gilly, welcome to the club no one wants to be in,I’m recently diagnosed myself with tubular/lobular and also waiting for a lumpectomy but on both sides! I don’t do things by half! I think your anxiety tiredness is well founded,I know I feel my heads going to explode sometimes with all the appointments, tests, medical jargon etc,but the wonderful ladies on here have been so helpful and reassuring also. I just wanted you to know your not alone and whatever your problem is theres someone on here with useful information and advice hope your op goes well and you have a quick recovery! Big hugs. Xx
Hi GillyJ196, Livvy and Wendloui
sorry that you had to join this ‘club’. How are you holding up?
Regards bras - Marks and Spencer do a very good line of post surgery bras. Some are very pretty - and they are the most comfortable. I initially tried a sports bra, but it was simply too tight under my breasts (36B).
Two advantages with a post surgery bra, should you not neeed it for a prothesis.
Firstly you do not have to pay the VAT on them - you fill out a little label attached, and that is it.
Secondly, when all will be well again the pockets are superb for adding that little extra! I have tried it and it works perfectly!
Mind you I am still going through chemo at the moment, but as I had a reconstruction straight away and I have healed brilliantly I tried it. Fab results!
Feeling tired after the op is quite normal as your body has to work hard to heal the wound/s, so please do not worry about that. And it is so understandable that you are anxious.
We are all here to support each other, share our experiences, which is of so much help.
Hugs
Sue xx
Hi livvy and sue, i’m holding up quite well for now, my family and friends have been amazing but it’s hard to explain to them all without upsetting them just how hard the journey ahead is going to be, my cancer is triple positive so i have years of treatment ahead, i’m only 39 and it feels like the best years are being taken from me but i won’t let it win, i’ve still got a lot of living to do xx
I have explained everything to them and continue to keep them in the loop, i guess it’s hard for it to sink in with them because i am dealing with it quite well and it sounds silly but because i don’t look ill or feel ill they think everything is ok, gonna get my next appointment out of the way then sit them all down again to explain it all again, thanks sue xx
