newly diagnosed

Hi all, I am 38 year old mum of 2 boys. I was diagnosed 9 days ago and waiting for surgery next week. Oh my God this is the most scary thing ever. Such a roller coaster ride of emotions. I feel completely positive if a little hard done by. However as long as my family are ok I am determined i can go through anything,
My friends have been so amazing and looking out for me every day, my Mum and Dad so supportive , infact my Mum has renamed herself the treat lady, which is providing comfort and smiles to us all.
Today i felt i could look up Breast cancer on google, so here i am. xx

Hi Sonique

I’m so sorry you’ve had to join us and so pleased you found the courage to google - some people take so much longer before they can do that. In my case i think it was about 3 weeks. it is undoubtedly the scariest thing for most of us but all i can say is the forum is a superb help to get you through the nightmare. You’ll find lots of information and lots of re-assurance - be sure to let people know what it is you need at any given time. Sometimes posts gets missed or “fall off” the latest posts depending on how busy it is, alternatively sometimes the forums are quiet and responses make take a wee while.

I’m glad you’re feeling so positive. wishing you lots of good luck and best wishes for surgery next week.

Hi Sonique

Sorry you have to join us but this is a wonderful site for help and support, one word of advice only check the threads and postings that are relative to you as it can scare the wotsits off you if you read something that may have nothing to do with your type of BC or the treatment that you may have.

Do you know yet what type of BC you have?

I’m sorry to read of your recent diagnosis, the first few days and weeks are always difficult and lots of women feel frightened and confused.

I’ve given here the link to our Resource Pack, which has been specicially designed for those people newly diagnosed. The pack is filled with information to help you better understand your diagnosis, test results and the various treatments available.

Hi Sonique,

well done on being positive and going on a search for info!I’m 36 with 2 young boys and was diagnosed last month, have had lumpectomy and waiting for chemo then radiation. Is scary scary scary but the alternative to putting your head down and getting through it is more rubbish, so thats all you can do. Lifes not fair though is it?

Take care, and really don’t read ahead or around too much as stuff terrifies you and once you have read it you can’t unread it. I have always been a person who likes to know the ins and outs of everything but I have learnt to be wary with this

take care
