Hi - I was diagnosed on Thursday 27 May and told have to have MRI scan within 2 weeks and surgery within a month, but won’t know type of cancer or what treatment until after MRI.
Everyone at the clinic were great but I have read some comments from others newly diagnosed and it is good to know everyone seems same as me initially ie not sleeping , worried and hating the wait for results etc, I am trying to be positive and carrying on as normal for now but this is diifficult, this seems a good site for support and I will be back.
HI Carol and welcome to the BCC forums
I am sure you will find lots of support and information here from your fellow users, in addition, I have posted the link to our ‘New resource’ pack which you may find helpful to read, it has been designed for anyone newly diagnosed:
You may also find our helpline useful along the way, the lines are open 9-5 weekdays and 9-2 Saturday on 0808 800 6000, here you can speak to someone in confidence, ring up for a listening ear or further information about all aspects of breast cancer. (Reopens Tuesday 1st June after the Bank holiday)
Hope this helps.
Take care
Lucy
Hi Carol
Good you have found this forum, you will find some very helpful advice, and lots of ‘friends’ to help you along the way! so keep posting!
It is all a big worry, but you have made a start, and once they know your treatment, you can start looking forward.
Just take a step at a time, very easy to say, very hard to do, every appointment, every result is always a worry!
Keep in touch, and good luck

You most certainly are not alone! I’ve just come out the other side and If I can make it, anyone can. As has been said, waiting for results is the worst bit, but once you know what you’re up against, you can prepare to face the treatment head on. It’s not pleasant but its doable. Keep us posted and ask away if you have any questions.
Take care

Hi Carol - another voice of support from me. its awful in the beginning but you will find the strength from somewhere inside you, the one day at a time thing is incredibly hard to get your head around at the start but you’ll probably find its really the only way to deal with it. It does get easier - never easy but easier i promise.
Glad you’ve found the forums i’m sure you’ll find it a real help i know i did. Good luck and good thoughts.
