Whirl wind is a understatement, found a lump diagnosed with cancer. Had it removed on the 8th was ment to be getting my results this Friday but was told today it was cancelled due to an audit and mm clinic. So I now have to wait till the 23rd it seems so far away. The last few days I’ve felt like **bleep**, my left arm is so sore and I have not a lot of energy. So many questions and feel like I need to be strong but crying inside :0(
Hi Janet and welcome to the forum, It certainly is a whirlwind!
The wait for results is hard enough without an extension to it and I can completely understand how you feel.
You don’t need to be strong all the time, allow yourself time to be upset and angry at what’s happening to you, it’s a really tough time and floors the strongest of us. It certainly did me!
Can you tell us a bit more about your diagnosis so far so I can point in the direction of others going through similar who you can chat to.

Not sure what my diagnosis is, just that I had a small lump and they have removed it. They told me it was cancer but nothing else. By now should I have been told more x

Hi Janet. I had my op on 25th April and was due results last week. Appointment was cancelled as results not back so rescheduled for this Thursday. I understand your feelings its the one thing you think about and every twinge ache or pain starts a worry. Dont feel you have to be strong its a huge thing your going through cut hourself some slack cry shout whatever you feel. Always remember there is someone here for you to vent to anytime. X Val x
Hi Janet. I received the letter with my diagnosis on direct from my surgeon after the biopsy results. It was my responsibility to take to my gp. It explained the diagnosis type and grade along with a little on myself and my reaction at diagnosis. Might be worth ring your gp to see if it has been sent direct to them. I have a copy of every letter from surgeon - waiting for the one from the oncologist to arrived any day now. Did you have wle and snb? The waiting game is far worse than the surgery. Try and take one day at a time and cherish the good days asthis helps get through the not so good days when the anxiety gremlin shows itself. I am waiting on radiotherapy and have tattoos tomorrow ready for start of treatment at the beginning of June. Have a good cry, let it out as this also helps. Take care and take a look the the May treatment thread as ladies there at same point as yourself. I’m In the April surgery thread and r day to move to the radiotherapy thread but won’t be going there till i need to.

Wide local excision (lumpectomy in other words) & sentinel node biopsy, Janet.
Usually one or two sentinel nodes are removed to check for any spread out of the breast.
Sorry to hear your appointment has been postponed, it certainly doen’t help the anxiety when going through all of this.
It might be an idea to write down what you would like clarified for the appointment & do come & ask here or on the ‘ask our nurses’ board if you need to.
It is a lot to get your head around in the early days.

I had my wle and snb on the 8th May, results on 23rd. When do you think my radiotherapy will start ? I’ve got a weeks holiday to Crete booked for 16th June do you think I will be allowed to go xx
Hi Janet,
Just tell them what your holiday plans are, most of us start radiotherapy about 6 weeks’ish later. Mine was 2 months after surgery, so it should be no problem & they’re happy to accommodate holiday plans.
