news about possible vaccine against cancer

This is something that may hold hope for the future:

that sounds sooo cool. Even if that specific vaccine is off by - say - 5 years, it may be in time for some of us!!!

“Advaxis is now preparing for clinical trials of Lovaxin B, their cancer-fighting vaccine for the treatment of breast cancer. The goal is to treat women who have pre-existing breast cancer with Lovaxin B by invoking an immune system response that will prevent the reoccurrence of the cancer”

Well, this may not be as big a breakthrough as it sounds, even if it works. From the URL below, it sounds like the vaccine targets Her2 (and there are alot of vaccines that target Her2 because it seems to be a good target).

My cancer was her2+, so I guess I should be happy about all the work that is going on, but part of me thinks that more people out there should be targeting other cancer targets. There is a real need for more treatments for triple negative patients (ER-, PR-, Her2-).

I agree, Christine,

There are plenty of targeted treatments exisiting or well down the pipe-line for her2+ but not so much for triple negs or her2- patients. Hormone treatments are only effective in about 30% of cases so there are still many of us desperately looking for other advances to be made.
