ladies, I am due to have nipple recon op in october. I have the plastic stick on nipple to practice with so i can decide where I want to the op done. I have heard that this cannot be placed over the existing scar which is the leaf shape on my breast from the LD procedure. does anyone know whether this is just in respect of the actual nipple ‘lump’ or does this include the tattoo area also ? is the tattoo allowed to go over the scar line ?

I had a nipple reconstruction at the beginning of June and a tattooed areola 3 weeks ago.

The nipple was made out of the tummy skin which now sits in the middle of my reconstructed breast (I had a DIEP) and the tattoo has ended up going over the scar lines from the nipple reconstruction - there haven’t been any problems with this, so I think you should be ok.
