No help from transfusion?

Hi all,
I’m hoping someone else has heard of this. My mom had BC about 12 years ago and bone mets have been found on her ribs now. Her doctor is giving her Falsodex and Zometa. The meds seem to be making her really tired and sick. They did blood work and found out her red blood cell count was 8.0 so her doc ordered a transfusion. The day after the transfusion, her red blood cell count was 7.7. They did another transfusion and we don’t have the blood count back from that one yet, but she still feels tired to the point of only being able to sleep all day. From what I’ve read, the transfusion should have made her feel better and raised her numbers. Any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks so much for your insight.

I had a blood transfusion last week and although it helped a little I am still tired and my HB is higher than your Mum’s. Have you heard back from the person who did the latest blood transfusion? You could always phone the breast Care nurse or the ward to ask for advice. I too am on Zometa but I have not had Falsodex. I am on chemo at the moment though. Let us know if you hear any more about her recent blood test. I only wish I coud help more as you sound concerned. But the hospital may be abe to advise you best. Why not give them a call and say you are worried. Hugs Val
