No Hormone Therapy - Support

Thank you  lots of building work going on at present so not going to be able to do much but I will have a lovely new kitchen for my birthday - I’m using parts of it but isn’t quite complete yet. I have lots of live music and stuff planned for the summer though. Xx

That all sounds very exciting. What colour is your new kitchen?
I’m thinking of having a ‘tickled pink’ party once my Phesgo injections are over to celebrate the end of treatment and raise money for a cancer charity. Wouldn’t be able to have it at home as house is too small but there are a couple of lovely venues locally that I could use. Xx

Again I’m sorry to hear about your sister and undoubtedly this will make you cautious but we all have to be careful not to push our views onto others. You have said you don’t suffer side effects which makes it more difficult to be able to empathise with others that do. We don’t know how others are affected, even similar side effects can manifest in different ways in different people.

I’ve had 2 lots of counselling but still struggle with some aspects of my diagnosis, especially with the passing of a family member yesterday from cancer. But I acknowledge they had a different cancer and different stage to me. Losing people close to us can trigger many emotions without a cancer diagnosis.

It may be helpful for you to reach out to the BCN nurses for some support 0808 800 6000 Mon- Fri 9-4 and Sat 9-1.

My new kitchen - still not quite finished - is a shade of teal/green too. Green is absolutely my favourite colour! Xx

Have to disagree. I don’t have much else to say but I always think its a mistake to stop any thread because one person has applied pressure. I don’t think posters are upset: indeed the gentleness of most of our responses and the ability to show understanding shines through. I never believe that any subject is off topic.

May I ask what Phesgo injections are?

I agree with you that no topic should be off limits as not talking about things and not being able to share our experiences without feeling we are being “told off” for making the choices we have makes us feel isolated and alone. That’s why I resisted the suggestion early on that I turn this thread into a private chat - which would have made it hard for other people to join it and get support from it.
There have been a few people who haven’t been supportive in their comments and I personally have found this upsetting but at the same time I can see why it is a trigger for some people who are in a different place to us to make them upset too. Hence reason why I suggested we change the subject now and revert to what the original post was intended for. I’m really hoping that the people who don’t/can’t/won’t understand giving up AIs will leave us alone now! :crossed_fingers:
Hug and best wishes x

Phesgo is a combination drug to treat HER2 breast cancer - pertuzumab and trastuzumab in a single injection. It’s a targeted therapy that blocks the HER2 protein, preventing cancer cells from dividing and growing. Phesgo is administered subcutaneously and is used in combination with chemotherapy.
A lot of hospitals now give Kadcyla instead of Phesgo. I was offered the chance to swap to Kadcyla but I was already on phesgo and knew I could tolerate it so didn’t want to swap to a new unknown.
I have a nurse come and give me my injections at home now. They have to be given very slowly. They sting a little but I have no bad side effects except they make my tummy a bit loose. Only 4 more to go though!

@JoanneN , Many happy returns for your 60th next week, hope your kitchen turns out fabulous.
@jayesse, you have a beautiful kitchen and the green looks great with your lovely wood flooring.
The end of your phesgo is definitely a great reason to celebrate. Her 2 treatment drags on for a very long time, I got away with that ( probably by the skin of my teeth) despite being her 2. Never heard of anyone like me getting turned down for her2 treatment, its a unique situation I’m in (which does make me wonder at times if it will show to be the wrong decision). It might be something I’d have to do if the cancer ever comes back, but I’ll deal with that as it comes and meanwhile its heartening to see people getting through to the other side of treatment and looking forward to the future x

Interesting to see that Bernard saw fit to redact the relevant part of my message (237/277) which wasn’t rude or insulting, I just suggested ignoring someone who was ignorant :zipper_mouth_face:
Never mind, there were enough likes before he did this to vindicate my full comment :slightly_smiling_face:
