Hi everyone,
Here is another good resource about the importance of reducing inflammation and how to do it with your diet. Very inspiring.

Love Tulip x

Thinking of you shaw1 and wishing you a gentle and (tolerably) sunny Summer x

Thanks Tulip a productive use of my Sunday morning - I’m into other seeds but going to get some chia now. Xx

I love chia seeds and add to my daily breakfast along with sunflower, pumpkin and hemp, but they do get stuck in your teeth. Lots of flossing :tooth::toothbrush: always add 3 different fruits. Tim Spector encouraged the 30 different fruits, vegetables, seeds, spices and herbs per week a few years ago and I’ve tried to keep to it. Along with Greek Yoghurt with probiotics for gut health.

Great tips in the video about preparing food such as garlic, onion and broccoli and leaving it for 10 minutes before cooking to release sulforaphane, which reduces inflammation.

I have this everyday as a hot tea. I add black pepper to this recipe, it helps activate the turmeric as mentioned by Tim Spector in the video.

I take a tumeric pepper and ginger supplement. Nothing to do with cancer as I don’t buy into the idea of diets for that (except to improve weight and general health) more for for my joints which are pretty bad these days. Tbf I was already on tumerc before all this, but stopped as incompatible with tamoxifen. Back on now as off tamoxifen.

Hi Jayesse

I’m thinking of skipping letrozole too. It would be nice to have someone to discuss with. I looked on Predict and it only makes a 2% difference for me over 15 years but it’s difficult when you get told you should take it by the specialists!!

Awarenow: Such a dilemma ; I am 0.6% benefit at 15 years 7mm tumour and they want me to take it. Am on a break currently x

Hi Acantilados

How long did you take it for? That is a really small percentage benefit! I spoke to a private GP who specialises in hormone cancer care - Sarah Glynne- and she told me she has a number of women who try alternative more positive ways forward - getting fit, losing weight, giving up alcohol and improving diet.

I’m just recovering from 2 surgeries at the moment - I to improve margins - so feel like I need an end in sight. 5 years of feeling ill just depresses me more!

Did you have radiotherapy? I have that up next….

I was almost a year on tamoxifen and that gave me a endometrial issues and changed to letrozole - been on only a few months - surgeon thought it would be too much for me . I am low bmi/ exercise/good diet but I like a small glass of wine every now and again but not to excess! still not sure what to do. I had a mastectomy as I had a couple of tiny tumours in different places 4mm and 7mm both grade 1. no radio no chemo x Lots of love to you with your next radiotherapy - you are nearly there! x
Like everybody says it’s a decision that you yourself need to be comfortable with and taking into account all the features of your own personal cancer as they are all different x

I also take the hot tea as a health benefit and started before my cancer diagnosis. I was told if it’s eaten it’s ok and to be wary of supplements. So the hot tea is ideal.

Thanks for coming back to me. Yes - I keep being told it’s all very individual. You sound to be in a good positive position! I guess I’m a bit in shock with it all still. Great you managed to miss radiotherapy!

I’m still undecided - those pesky seeds of doubt!! x

There was a brilliant article in the Guardian recently about a worldwide trial that has definitively proved the benefits of exercise as part of cancer treatment. I got an exercise referral to the local gym from my GP, something the trial suggests should be a formal part of treatment, for those who can do it. It’s the first time it’s actually been proved in a trial. To the point where they said that exercise was ‘as good as drugs’, and then ‘if not better’. Well thats what I tell myself at the gym, although on my first visit a kindly man pointed out I was sitting on the equipment back to front!:joy: Its really worth reading the article, gives me hope!

That is so positive! I will try and find it.

I knew there was a chance that I wouldn’t get through 5 years of hormone therapy so decided to have radiotherapy as I was told that it cuts the chance of local recurrence ( which is the most common ) by 50% . I wasn’t problem free afterwards but I recovered from all that and for me it was only 5 days of treatment . Xx
