Thanks Gill, I am going to dip in and out of the Amazing Augusts thread to see how your all coping with Chemo. I expect to start in September. Kathy x
Hi everyone
Am currently awaiting more results to see if my tumour was Herceptin positive or not as it was borderline initially.
(Grade 2 Positive to hormones, 2 ops lumpectomy and further Auxilliary removal after micro mets in one.)
Have been told by oncologist that having chemo would give me 5 percent benefit, which seems quite small considering possible side effects-damage to heart, low blood count, hair loss, bladder irritation etc. So have been thinking I won’t have chemo.
Now reading here your comments…perhaps I should throw everything at it
Pondering my options.
Ahhh, just typed a really long reply to Jan7070 and it’s vanished! In brief, just to say that my results sounded similar to yours and I had chemo. I was 43 on diagnosis and I had no problems during treatment, continued to work whilst looking after my 4 year old, not everyone suffers. In my opinion the micromet showed it was beginning to travel and I wasn’t prepared to take the risk, it was a few short months out of my life and I know that any stray cells have been mopped up and have peace of mind knowing I’ve done all I can. 12 months on and I have a lovely healthy head of hair and life is good please feel free to PM me if you want to compare notes.
Take care x
thanks chascat it is very difficult when you are given an option but i agree with you i feel i have made the right decision although really scared to start chemo lots of support hear and its so good to hear from ladies like yourself that are through it and have coped. Jan7070 know what your going through but you have time to think about it and discuss further with your BCN and ONC love Gill
