No oncotype no chemo confused

I was diagnosed with bilateral lobular HR+ PR+ HER2-breast cancer lumpectomy grade 1 on left breast and mastectomy grade 2 on right breast 2 out of 10 lymphnodes involved and clearance done. My Consultant told me that I would have an oncotype and chemotherapy. But when I went to the oncologist he said no oncotype was done and said I only needed radiotherapy and letrozole (he used PREDICT). I’m so confused as why i was told two different things, and now scared of it returning i.e have been given the correct treatment.Anybody else had something similar. Please help to reasure my mind .. thank you

I didn’t have an oncotype as I was HER2+ and need chemotherapy to have Herceptin. It’s not nice to be given conflicting information, so can understand your frustration. If I was you, I would call and chat with your breast care nurse who can look at your records and discuss what was decided at the multi disciplinary team meeting. MDT include breast surgeon, oncologist, pathologist and nurses. They will have looked at the Predict. I would write down all your questions and tick them off as you ask them. Make sure you are fully informed as to the reasons.

You may want to put in your details on the Predict tool below, this is for the original one, there is a link for the newer version on the page. I have done both, I found it helpful to look myself especially the risks of hormone treatment. It does recommend discussing it with a healthcare professional. I have bilateral ductal carcinoma and Predict doesn’t take into account two separate tumours but I was informed they used the larger of the two which was grade 2 (smaller was grade 1) to determine treatment.

You may also benefit from talking the BCN nurses on 0808 800 6000 Mon- Fri 9-4 Sat 9-1.

I hope you get the answers you need.

:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Not sure this should be in the benign category so I will ask the BCN team where it would be best placed to get more responses.
