nobody told me that!-tomaxifan/progesterone

I have been doing some reading on the role of estrogen and progesterone in the body. Not just cancer but all the good things our body uses them for. I wanted to know a bit more about what tomaxifan is going to do to me. I am Pr posative (dont know the score of that marker, my E+ score is 8)

anyway that side of the reading was interesting (found out why the early versions of the pill made me manic) But what was more interesting was a huge metastudy that looked at women with early cancer that had not had chemotherapy and were taking tamoxifan. The survival rates of those that were progesterone posative were significantly higher than those who were just eostrogone posative. It looked like a good study because it excluded lots of results where it thought the testing methods were suspect, but still had 10,000 patients in it.

Now why did the docs not tell me that. I now have a real incentive to put up with any side effects I might have. Cannot wait to get my hands on my results now, want to know how high my progesterone score is.

That sounds very interesting, OAL. Where did you read about the study? Would like to read that myself. I am ER+ and PR+ and really hating the SEs of Tamoxifen so as you say it would help in putting up with them if Tamox is making a significant difference.

it was here

Thanks, OAL. This is encouraging.

Thanks OAL, a very detailed and reassuring article for us ladies with positive ER and PR (I’m 8/8 on both). I am still concerned about my positive nodes though, hopefully Tamoxifen will help me in keeping this beast at bay!
Makes the ses of Tamoxifen more bearable reading this

OAL, the docs don’t tell us these things for a couple of reasons, I suspect. 1) they haven’t had time to read the studies, so don’t actually KNOW about them, 2) we’re just women so we wouldn’t understand, and 3) they don’t have time to tell us about the studies, they have so many patients to deal with.

I could be completely wrong on all counts, but it wouldn’t surprise me if at least one of those (and probably all of them) come into play when they talk to us.

the time thing might be relevant. As i came out of my appointment in which i had grilled and double grilled the doc about this that and the other, the nurse announced to the waiting room that the were now running half an hour behind. I had only gone in 5 minutes late so it was all down to me–oops!

Have noticed the date of this study, seems a little out of date?
I would be weary of anything from internet websites abroad, ask your bcn or oncologist at your next app. I would say
