hi has anyones nose been effected on herceptin. i have funny feelings in my nose its like something up there is hard and crusty i have no colds etc. i dont have any colds. infact i have been quite healthy whilst had this horrible bc. have a good night all

Well I had the same when on FEC. Right at the top of my nose. It made my nose hurt and nothing would shift it. It was weeks after I had finished treatment that I managed to remove it. In the way that we tell our children they must not do!!

I thought this was because I lost my hair including I supposed nasal hair.

Yes I sometimes get a very sore nose, sometimes at the top and sometimes it is just on the inside of one nostril. It gets really really painful. This usually happens a week after I have had Herceptin and can last for a week or two. I thought it was just me as I hadn’t heard of anyone else experiencing this!

I am due to have my 18th Herceptin next week, so it will be intersting to see if it stops when I am no longer having it.

hi i didnt notice it when i had fec. maybe i did have it then.
congratulations anne on getting to 18 you must be well pleased. is that it now for you. i get rid of it like you awlfull isnt it but its very anoynig. i am glad i am not the only one… this site does stop me going mad… you ask a silly q and its not silly at all as nine times out of ten theres someone suffering the same as you.

Yes it will just be Arimidex from next week onwards. It seems odd as I have been having treatment since April last year, so just seeing my oncologist and surgeon occasionally will be very different from all the regular appointments I have become used to! I have appalling veins so the Healthcare at Home nurses have done well to cannulate me for such a long time although they have had to resort to one vein in the inside of my elbow for most of that time. I will be celebrating next Wednesday evening when it is all done!

Hi - Well done Anne - nearly there !I have 6 more Herceptins to go. I also have a sore nose - just on the inside but I think this is because I am always blowing it or wiping it cos I have the runny nose attributed to Herceptin. I also get very fluey for about a week after the Herceptin, starting a couple days after treatment. It seems to be getting worse. It has only come these last 3 treatments. My veins are getting worse and just hope that they will hold out another 6 times - well 8 I suppose with the heart scans we have.

Have you asked if they will try a vein in your arm instead of your hand? They don’t like to do it for chemo but apparently it is ok for Herceptin. I thought I was going to end up with a portacath but the vein inside my elbow has been ok for almost all of the Herceptins.

Jal - I had the runny, blocked, sore and sometimes bloody nose while on Herceptin. My onc warned me about the runny nose. I found the best way to relieve it when it got very blocked was to breathe in steam from the kettle for a few minutes and that helped it to clear.

My nose always runs continually for about 48 hrs after each herceptin but doesn’t feel stuffed - just very annoying]Kate
