Not responding to chemo?

Hi everyone. I’m quite new to this but just wanted to see if anyone has been in my situation? I have 3.4 cm tumour, grade 2 hormone positive . Was originally on 4x EC followed by 4x paxlitaxol ( 2 weekly). A scan after the first two EC treatments showed the tumour had flattened but not shrunk in length , a small tumour attached which measured 0.5cm has disappeared. Anyway , as a result the paclitaxol treatment was brought forward and I’ve since had 3 rounds with 3 to go. I’m so fed up as a scan today showed no change! I was so deflated , I can’t feel the tumour when lying down, neither could be radiographer. She said it may have started to change at a cellular level but the scan won’t show that, only when I have surgery will they know. I Just wanted to share this with the forum, was clinging to the chemo working , which I’ve coped with fine, just feeling a bit low at the moment!

Hi there,

Dont get too down as it may well be dying inside out. Mine has shrunk from 21mm to 17mm over the course of three FEC and was disappointed as I guess I was expecting it to have gone. But the fact that yours has changed is still really good news. The chemo is doing something. The side effects are proof of that!

Thankyou for replying, appreciate it. I spoke to my breast nurse who was very supportive. I’m cracking on with another dose of chemo tomorrow then I’ll just see what , if anything , they come up with! I guess I’m very impatient ! Got to learn to be patient and do as I’m told! I’ll keep eating the broccoli in the meantime!
