Just come back from a very frustrating appointment at the breast clinic. My GP had referred me, as I have a lump which she says is probably a cyst but she wanted to be sure. They were running really late, and by the time I got seen it was nearly 5pm. I saw a junior doctor who couldn’t feel anything, but then saw a registrar who said there is definitely something “nodular” there and she tried to get me a mammogram then and there (though she said I’m too young really as only 42) but the radiologist had gone home for the day ![]()
I’m now back in the appointment system and they said probably 2-4 weeks before I will get seen again for a mammogram. And then after that another 2 weeks to see a doctor again. Which will be nearly 2 months since I saw my GP initially.
Not sure what to think TBH - presumably if they thought it was urgent they would have got me scanned ASAP? Or is this just the system? Do I just try to chill out and assume all is fine, or should I try to beg/borrow/steal the money for a private mammogram? I’ve no significant family history so guess that makes me low priority?
Any advice hugely welcomed.
Thanks!
