I know it sounds irrational but i am going into hospital tonight in preparation for my operation tomorrow. Double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction, diep/tram. I have felt fine during chemo etc, but the last few days i have become terrified of not waking up from the op and never seeing my husband and children again. Has anyone else suffered with this? What did u do to combat this and get over it? x
Hello Rachel01
Whilst waiting for replies to your post maybe you could give our helpline a call and have a chat with one of our nurses. The free phone number is 0808 800 6000 and the lines are open Monday to Friday 9.00 to 5.00 and Saturday 10.00 to 2.00.
Best wishes

Rachel I also thought this, but I think it’s the fear taking over. You will wake up. You should tell your anaesthetist your fears, they will be used to this.
Just try to go with the flow and this time tomorrow, you’ll be starting the next phase, which is recovering from surgery.
You will be ok
Take care, all the best x
Thanks Zuleika. It’s stupid i knw. Can’t wait for this to be over…not long now x
