Not a bloody penny.
No financial help with anything, and now cancer isn’t a critical illness so no help with the mortgage.
I am honestly thinking about giving up with this crap, and going back to work. What’s the point?
Why don’t you contact MacMillan? they have benefits advisors that will hopefully tell you of some benefits/grants that may be able to help you. Good Luck xx
A friend of mine with thyroid cancer is getting a critical illness pay out might be worth re checking.
As long as its “invasive” breast cancer (not dcis) then critical illness should pay out.
It’s really strange.
I only made the claim last week, and today the result. Where the reason should be is a gap!? This is where the info should be.
I honestly think they believe that it’s in situ, and it’s not, it’s invasive.
Hubby is at the bank with the letter right now. How ill do you have to be, and how much info did they really chase up in a week? I don’t think they have done anything.
I’ve got months to go yet. fec 3 next week, then sugery, then rads. I really hope nothing happens to hubby in the mean time, or we’ll be in a cardboard box!
I think they must have made an error. To get a response in a week doesnt sound right. They have to get reports from your consultant and gp and these usually take a while. I think mine took about 2-3 months from when i claimed until they had their info and paid out.
You’re thinking like me Lolly.
I was expecting months too! ;o/
my critical illness paid out within wks after contacting my surgeon,i would double check and red through the policy x
There are only two reasons they can reject a claim; if your illness is not covered (invasive cancer should be absolutely covered), or if the cover was taken out after you knew or suspected that there was an illness.
There is NO way they could make a decision within a week…
I would suggest that you write to the insurance company, registered post, and ask for the reason for their decision in writing.
Best wishes

Hi
No way this can be dealt with in a week. In my case the GP, breast surgean and ONC all had to fill out forms. And it took them much longer than one week to respond to the insurance company. Invasive bc should be covered! In the end it took just over three months from claim to payment.
Good luck!
