Hi, I’m having my treatment at the Nottingham City Hospital which very fortunately has a wonderful Maggies Centre on the campus. You don’t need to be having treatment at the NCH, but if anyone lives close enough to visit this cantre, I can wholeheartedly encourage you to do so. Whether it is just for a chat, benefits advice, or to join one of the many events (ALL FREE, ALTHOUGH SOME NEED TO BE PRE-BOOKED) such as Tai Chi, Yoga, LGFB sessions. Tea, coffee, biscuits and fruit all available and also free. Please make use of this brilliant resource if you are able.

Hi angiepops
The first time I visited our Maggies, my daughter had taken me for my 3rd chemo session. She loved it there as much as I did. I just wish I lived closer to it so I could visit it more regularly. I’d love to join in with one of the tai chi or yoga sessions.

Poemsgalore,
Totally agree with you. I visited a couple of weeks ago and have booked to attend a LGFB course ater this month. Like you, unfortunately I don’t live close enough to use it for the yoga or tai chi classes, but the people that I met were so friendly and the whole feel of the centre is really welcoming.

We’ve got a Maggie’s just across from our ONC unit so my husband can go there with some work while I’m having chemo and rads- it is so lovely. Took my ED there Tues and she loved it too. A toy basket in every room, and lots of places to lie down, with a quilt placed where you can just snuggle up if you need it. Lots of places to hide away and be sad or happy. And briiliant activities which unfortunately never coincide with appointment days cause like you Poems I just live a little far…How we wish other friends of ours going through cancer could have had that support. It’s not me who needs it as much as the family,
My MD is walking the Power Walk for them in London on 8 June.
Brilliant ladies, have any of you visited the online community website for Maggies?
maggiescentres.org/maggies/maggiescentres/home/home.html
you can put your own blog on here if you wish, I’ve also posted a few poems on there too.

rosiechin,
so sorry you have secondaries, but I agree with you about the Nottingham Maggies staff. Just wish I could visit more often. Do you live close the the hospital, or just visit on appointment days? If I manage to get there again soon, I might see you there.
