Hi Otter i suffered with a realky sore mouth after chemo 1 to the point where i could barely brush my teeth! I got difflam mouthwash and daktarin oral gel from my GP on day 7. It improved greatly once i had them. She has put themnon repeat prescription for me now to use throughout treatment.
After chemo 2 i started using the mouthwash from day 2 and gel from about day 4 and although my mouth started to get sore it was nothing like round 1. I had chemo 3 yesterday and used my mouthwash last night.
I also use Biotene toothpaste which is gentle and helps with dry mouth. I can only get it in boots.
Ring your Gp it really will ease it for you. Hope you feel better xx

Was in Aldi yesterday and they sell frozen pineapple Chunks for £1.50. I bought mango ones!!! Primark sell eyebrow powder for £1.50 which is amazing. Tried it out last night but currently look like that lady with fruit on her head.
Otter what’s your sore mouth like??? Mine feels like I’ve burnt the roof of my mouth, all bumpy. But not sure if I just have burnt it and it’s just not growing back???

I described my mouth as feeling like it had been left in the bath too long. All rough and wrinkly. I use Biotene mouthwash and toothpaste they also do a gel for extra dry patches. It’s specifically designed for people on chemo or with other conditions that cause an excessively dry mouth. You can use it up to 5 times a day and so far I’ve only had 2 small ulcers right at the back first round and the tip of my tongue has been a bit sore this time. If your mouth and throat get very sore though ring your team or gp just in case it’s thrush then you will need the daktarin

Ahhhh thank you chaffinch, ha in the bath. Yes wrinkly and bumpy but not sore so hopefully it stays that way. Will it go away or will it be bumpy now till I’m done with chemo??? Can’t stop my tongue running along it! xxx

I’m on day 3 chemo 1; taking it slowly… I sleep a lot, feel better in the mornings (probably steroids keep me going), felt very nauseous in the afternoon on day 1 and 2; hope it feels better this afternoon x
I didn’t eat a lot - just nibbled on some crisp bread and a few almonds to help with nausea.
No sore mouth as yet, but had a nasty metallic taste in mouth for the first two days, it’s gone now.
I have a set of 5 injections starting on day 5, which is Saturday. Any of you doing them yourself? I said I would… Will see ?

Today is day 7 and my mouth has started to feel a bit dry and I keep on feeling chilly - is anyone else feeling cold? My temps are ok.
I’m on day 6 out of 10 for injections, have got hubby doing them xx

Don’t see why not, I think live natural yoghurt is ok so that should be so long as dairy products are pasteurized I think they’re ok.
Chaffinch, my nurse said live natural yoghurt is a no, anything with live bacteria …
Jc watch out for burning pee even with a normal temp, that’s how I started with an infection felt chilly but then a few hours later was ok, then my pee started burning days 7-14 are when you are most susceptible to infection. Ladies remember to get that 2l plus of fluid in too and also if you are on fec, sucking ice lollies while they give you the red one can help to prevent sore mouth. ??

afternoon all
got into the unit at 10 and left at 2.45, they had trouble finding a vein - mine are deep appartently.
All good though, didnt really feel anything as it was going - only a slight pressure in my sinuses which went off after about 20 mins.
Home to tea and crumpets and a crashed MacBook… I plan on a very lazy evening drinking tea and nibbling on bits!

yes the nurses were fantastic - they make all the difference.
I had a little walk this afternoon but nothing much.
Checked with the unit and I dont take any meds until the morning.
I’m already starting to feel a little sick but nothing major, going to try and have a few nibbles and an early night I think!

Hi Annakarenina, I’ve been recommended to have a port put in too as I have narrow veins. I heard from hospital today that I need to go in & see them next week for bloods then have the procedure on the Saturday ?
